Funniest thing I've heard in a while...

LAD made himself a big ol' mess and was told to clean it up. He picked up the big chunks, then said " I have to get the crumb swallower to clean up the rest." Makes no matter to me what you call it, just so you know how to use it!

Continuing the snow theme...

This was Sunday. This boy is confused! He was ready to go "diving into the snow".

Some readers may recognize this location. Roger's (crop duster strip) taxi way. He has been very efficient at clearing all his snow. He has nice big green machines to do the job right! Nothing flying around here, but there is here.

Big Storm, day 3 (Friday 01/08/10)

Friday dawned with a few flurries and sun struggling, finally successfully, to come out. Not that it was very productive at melting the roads. Temps still very cold. We finally ventured out about 10:00 and go to school/work.

This photo was out the front picture window, big drifts. Luckily we don't have to walk in this area!

Before leaving the house LAD had to play in the snow for about 30 minutes. Enough to get fairly frozen. I had to drag him into the car protesting, kicking and crying. Luckily his tears didn't freeze instantly!

Huge drift at front of house, blows off the roof onto the bushes. LAD is about 38 inches tall, so it gives you some idea...

Light and fluffy.

Big Storm, day 2

Snow Day!

Snow tapered off overnight and the winds picked up. Temps about +10 this morning, a heat wave compared to last week.

The sun tried to peek thru but not much success.

This afternoon we ventured out to clear the driveway for the second time. This was when we were still warm.

Give a kid fancy toys and what does he play with the most, the modified cat toy stick/string (he calls it his fishing pole) with a metal zebra-painted DC3 tied to the end of it.

After being toted around in the sled for a while he yelled "Mommmm". What. "I'm just relaxing in the sled". Glad I could provide such a smooth ride for relaxation. He probably would have fallen asleep had I kept pulling him around.

I hope the eves and gutters hold out...

Nothing like a stuck CAT.

Temps down to 4 and falling, gonna be ccccold tonight.

Big Storm, day 1

Started snowing mid-day today. Forcasted for 7-10 for us, then the blowing starts tomorrow. By the time we got home tonight we had at least 6 inches.
The garage door on my side won't open all the way. Had to reshuffle garage vehicle contents. Randy is at an Ag Conference in MO. But the snow blower did not let me down. Started first pull. I love that machine for no other reason but that. Well, I guess I like it quite a bit for the job that it does after you get it started.
I could hardly get LAD into the car after leaving daycare. He tromped around in their snow piles for 10 minutes. And discovered catching snowflakes on his tongue. Worth the wait for that.

But not much heat. LAD begged to get the big train back out, so we did.













These icicles were going in all directions and all different shapes and sizes. Odd. Ma has them too. Hers were drippy, ours, not so much.

December Daily 2009-Finished!!!!

Inspired by Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas and Ali Edward's December Daily, this is the third year I've created an album like this. I created the basis of the album back in November, assembled all the pages and day numbers, etc. Photos of those pages are here. Then once December rolled around, journaling and photos are added. I kept up with the writing each day or every other day, and printed and added photos every few days in order to keep up. I took it on our trip and journaled each day, then added those photos later.

I love how it turned out and the fact that it's finished makes it PERFECT!

Christmas projects I forgot I made!

Back in September I made several Christmas projects for store displays for Memory Bound Scrapbook Store in Ankeny. Today I got to bring these little jewels back home. Here's a few shots of them. At the bottom of this post is a link to Flick where there are more pictures, if you're interested.

This is a Creative Imaginations Bare Elements drink caddy type thing, with 6 sections in it.

For the HOMEmade for the HOLIDAYS, I printed it on the inkjet then hand stitched around the letters of HOME and under the made with brown bakers twine.

This was a stack of bare scalloped chipboard pieces on a chain. The front piece was debossed with lines on it. Paint, red bakers twine, paper and photos. I used a JellyRoll pen to sparkle it up.

A very simple LO with words, photos and this great overlay.

This was the last project I did, using leftovers from above projects. The theme at the store was Home for the Holidays and I had seen something somewhere using this chubby house shape so decided to make a mini album using various sized pages and misc. pictures from the last few years.

Brrrrr ing on the new year!

We might have reached 12 degrees today, but the sun was shining!
We braved the cold and went outside for a short while. There's a layer of crusty ice under the top 6 inches or so of snow. Crunchy! Light and fluffy, not snow-man-building weather. Happy New Year!
