Came home after dark tonight and we had a clear sky! Ma shot the moon a few nights ago, it was skinnier then!
I was experimenting with 3 different lenses. I have been using this Sigma 18-200 lens for general shooting and it works well. The Tamron 70-300 was a lens Ma gave me when I got the D100 and I used it for a while but the pictures always looked "soft" and I never really liked how they looked. Then Ma got me the Sigma and Bart gave me a 18-70 kit lens he had as an extra and that's what I've been shooting with for the last few years. But after putting this Tamron lens on the D90, I'm amazed at the sharpness. I didn't expect to see that. The real test will be shooting faces. LAD has Bam Bam baseball tomorrow, so it'll be a good test. It's really too long of a lens to use inside, but for sports it's great. The bottom photo is from Ma's old Spiratone 500 mm...it's marginal to say the least. I played with the focus but that's about as clear as it got. All these images are straight out of camera, cropped only, not sharpened out of camera. I think camera is on low sharpen, if any. Ha, I don't think I've ever bought a lens! Thanks Ma and Bart! I hope my Christmases (yeah, I know it's wrong, but I don't know what's right!) and B'days don't run out!!!

How far can you see? I can see the moon, is that far enough?
Tamron wins, eh? Good shots!
